As part of Earth Science Week, the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival held Alison Neil’s one-woman play, The Fossil Lady of Lyme, at The Hub over the weekend.
An audience of 70 people were treated to the mesmerising and richly varied performance about Mary Anning, her struggles and friendships and an amusing and moving account of how she made ground-breaking and spectacular discoveries in Lyme Regis.
Heather Prior, Lyme Regis Fossil Festival Co-ordinator, said “It’s such a fantastic play that had to be bought to Lyme Regis, and it was brilliant to see so many people come to The Hub and enjoy the show. We hope to bring it back for Fossil Festival in April 2017, for primary schools’ day and for an evening performance at The Hub.
“It was such an informed show which I thoroughly enjoyed, and even as a Lyme Regis resident I learnt new facts about Mary Anning” said one member of the audience.
